YouTube Premium and YouTube Music are getting more expensive

YouTube is raising prices for its Premium and Music subscriptions in the U.S. The individual YouTube Premium plan increases from $13.99 to $15.99 monthly, and the family plan rises from $22.99 to $26.99. YouTube Music’s individual plan goes from $10.99 to $11.99, with the family plan increasing from $16.99 to $18.99. The Premium Lite tier, for ad-free viewing excluding music, increases from $7.99 to $8.99. These changes apply to both new and existing subscribers, who will be notified at least 30 days in advance. YouTube stated this is its first U.S. price update since 2023, necessary to maintain features like ad-free viewing and a vast music library. The service now has 125 million subscribers across both tiers. This move follows recent price increases from other major streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Spotify.
