YouTube is conducting a voluntary exit program with severance for its employees based in the United States. The company confirmed this news on Wednesday. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan informed employees about the program through an internal memo.
The same memo also announced that the company, which is owned by Google, is reorganizing its product teams. They will now be structured into three separate organizations, and all three will report directly to Mohan. The Subscription Products team will concentrate on YouTube’s subscription offerings, including YouTube Music, YouTube Premium, and OTT services.
The Viewer Products team will focus on the viewer experience. This includes the main YouTube application, YouTube Kids, YouTube Learning, and Trust and Safety. Finally, the Creator and Community Products organization will be dedicated to supporting creators and building community on the platform.
The company states that no roles are being eliminated as a direct result of these structural changes.
This move coincides with the release of earnings from Alphabet for the third quarter. During this period, YouTube’s advertising revenue reached ten point two six billion dollars. This figure represents a fifteen percent increase compared to the same period last year.
