X revamps Creator Subscriptions with new features, like exclusive threads andshareable cards

Elon Musk’s X announced a major update to its Creator Subscriptions on Thursday. The revamp introduces several new features designed to help creators build their audiences and improve their earnings. These include exclusive threads, a refreshed subscriptions paywall, a new dashboard, and a shareable subscriptions card.

The company believes these updates will allow creators to attract more fans and provide better experiences. This is part of X’s push to become a bigger player in the creator economy alongside platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. X also highlighted its recently launched “Paid Partnership” label, a built-in tool for creators to disclose sponsored content without using hashtags.

A key new feature is the launch of “exclusive threads.” This allows creators to monetize posts directly on X instead of directing fans to external websites or newsletters. Creators can tease the thread’s content in a parent post, and audiences can subscribe directly to that individual conversation. Subscriber-only content will now appear in the account’s main profile feed instead of a separate tab.

Other new tools are focused on marketing and analytics. A new Subscriptions card can be shared on X to promote a creator’s content. A new dashboard lets creators track their earnings and subscriber insights more easily, while also providing access to built-in growth tools.

X is also streamlining the subscription process with a refreshed paywall where creators can highlight benefits. The onboarding process for setting up subscriptions is now faster, taking just two steps. The company says it has sped up application review times so creators can begin monetizing more quickly.

In a statement, Allegra Jacchia of Creators Product at X said the company is doubling down on creators by investing in tools for sustainable income and deeper audience connections. The company believes creators deserve compensation for the value they bring to the platform.

X’s Creator Revenue Sharing Program, launched globally in 2023, allows creators to generate income from popular posts. The company has paid out over $45 million to creators to date. For 2026, the revenue pool has more than doubled due to growth in X’s Premium subscriptions. Some creators posted screenshots in January suggesting recent payout increases.

The subscription changes arrive amid other news from X this week. This includes beta tests for a standalone X Chat app and a payments service called X Money. The company also announced it would suspend creators from the revenue-sharing program if they post unlabeled AI videos depicting armed conflict.

X has long sought to attract creators, even before its acquisition by Elon Musk. However, the majority of X’s revenue still comes from advertisers, not premium subscriptions or creator content.
