Wispr Flow, an AI-powered dictation startup, has launched its Android app today. The company previously released its app for Mac and Windows, followed by an iOS launch in June 2025. On iOS, users access Wispr Flow through a dedicated keyboard. The Android interface differs, offering access to the dictation feature through a floating bubble. You can hold the bubble to dictate, or press it once to start and then press a close button to stop. As on other platforms, the app cleans up filler words and formats text based on the context of the app and the spoken content.
The co-founder and CEO, Tanay Kothari, stated that Android finally gave the team the freedom to build the voice experience they always wanted. He noted that only when the platform gets out of the way can voice truly replace typing on mobile.
The app supports translation in over 100 languages and works across other applications. Alongside the Android release, Wispr Flow completed an infrastructure rewrite that makes dictation 30% faster than before.
While many AI-powered dictation apps are available on desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow is now one of the few available on Android with this launch, alongside Typeless, which released an app for the platform last month.
Additionally, the company has released a new model for Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English, catering to people in India who speak in a code-mixed way. Kothari explained that as someone whose conversations weave English and Hindi together, he felt compelled to build the first voice model to support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script.
The company noted that even during an early rollout to select users, people have spoken over 1.3 million words in English through the app in the last few days.
Wispr Flow has been a popular startup in the AI dictation category, attracting significant venture capital. In June, the startup raised $30 million in funding led by Menlo Ventures. Then, within a few months in November, the company secured $25 million in a round led by Notable Capital. In total, Wispr Flow has raised $81 million, with its last round valuing the company at $700 million according to sources.
