WhatsApp rolls out new group chat features, including member tags

WhatsApp announced new features for group chats this Wednesday. The update includes member tags, text stickers, and event reminders.

Member tags allow you to choose a descriptive name that provides context about your identity or role within a specific group. For instance, you could be labeled as “Anna’s Dad” in a family group and “Goalkeeper” in a sports team chat.

The text stickers feature lets you transform any word or phrase into a sticker. You simply type your text into the Sticker Search to create it. These custom stickers can be added directly to your personal sticker packs for later use, without having to send them in a conversation first.

With event reminders, you can set custom notifications for your guests when you create and share an event within a group chat.

These new tools arrive as WhatsApp continues to enhance group chats with other capabilities. Existing features include sharing large files up to 2GB in size, sending HD quality photos and videos, screen sharing, and voice chats.
