VC industry has become a better career for women over the past 7 years

Women are making significant progress in the venture capital industry, according to a new report by the nonprofit All Raise. The findings, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, reveal that 18.6% of top roles at leading VC firms are now held by women—double the percentage recorded in 2018.

The report also highlights that many women saw career advancements last year, with a quarter of survey respondents receiving promotions. Additionally, investors remain committed to supporting underrepresented founders, with 75% expressing interest in backing such deals.

Despite these gains, women remain underrepresented at the helm of mega-funds, defined as those managing $3 billion or more. However, more women are choosing to forge their own paths, with over 100 women-led funds launching in the past decade. In 2023 alone, nearly 180 women-led firms raised $5.3 billion, signaling growing momentum in female-led venture capital.
