Ultrahuman acquires viO HealthTech to launch enhanced cycle and ovulationtracking

Smart ring manufacturer Ultrahuman has announced the acquisition of women’s health technology company viO HealthTech to introduce advanced cycle and ovulation tracking features. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of this acquisition, Ultrahuman is launching a new plug-in for its Ultrahuman Ring AIR called “Cycle and Ovulation Pro.” This feature will enable users to track their menstrual cycles with precision, receive fertility planning support with ovulation confirmation, and identify patterns such as early or late ovulation. Additionally, users can log moods, symptoms, and other data to uncover long-term wellness trends.

The plug-in utilizes a temperature-sensing algorithm originally developed for viO’s OvuSense fertility monitors. This technology was refined over 15 years and trained on a dataset of more than 260,000 cycles collected using medical-grade sensors. With the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, the algorithm provides personalized insights that adapt over time, offering a deeper understanding of users’ unique cycles.

Ultrahuman highlighted that most menstrual tracking platforms cater to women with regular 28-day cycles, but in reality, many individuals experience diverse cycle patterns. Those with conditions like non-bleeding, PCOS, endometriosis, or thyroid disorders often struggle to find accurate or supportive tracking solutions. The acquisition of viO aims to address these gaps.

The existing free Cycle & Ovulation PowerPlug, which offers basic tracking tools and calendar-based predictions, will remain available.

Rob Milnes, CEO of viO HealthTech, stated that wearables will shape the future of health and expressed excitement about bringing OvuSense’s women’s health insights to a broader audience through the Ultrahuman Ring AIR.

Cycle and Ovulation Pro is now available as a premium PowerPlug in the Ultrahuman app for $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year in the U.S., U.K., EU, Australia, and Canada. The company plans to expand availability to additional regions in the future.
