TikTok has made it easier for users to save songs from videos to their preferred music streaming platform. The platform recently added YouTube Music as an option for this feature.
Initially launched in November 2023 in the U.S. and the U.K., the feature supported Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. By February 2024, TikTok expanded it to over 160 countries worldwide. Over time, the company also included Deezer and SoundCloud as additional music streaming choices.
To save a song to YouTube Music, users can tap the “Add Song” button below the video description, next to the track name. They can then select YouTube Music as their preferred service. First-time users can choose their default streaming platform, which can later be changed in the “Music” menu under settings.
Once added, the song is saved to the TikTok Songs playlist on YouTube Music.
Tracy Gardner, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, stated that the “Add to Music App” feature has significantly impacted the music industry, with hundreds of millions of track saves leading to billions of streams. By partnering with YouTube Music, TikTok aims to further expand this global reach, helping artists connect with new audiences while giving fans a seamless way to enjoy the music they discover on the platform.
