Spotify Wrapped 2025 adds its first multiplayer feature with ‘Wrapped Party’

Spotify Wrapped has returned. Following last year’s widely criticized release, which was seen as a flop and included an AI podcast as its highlight, the streaming service’s annual review feature is back to its roots. This year, Spotify is focusing on what it knows works best: deep dives into your personal streaming data, creative experiences, messages from favorite artists, and social sharing features.

The company states that Wrapped 2025 is its biggest edition yet, introducing nearly a dozen new features alongside classic elements like top songs and artists. It also offers more visibility into user data than in previous years. A major addition is a live multiplayer feature, allowing users to compare listening statistics with friends for the first time.

This new interactive experience, called Wrapped Party, lets you invite up to nine friends to compare listening stats. It goes beyond simple comparisons by generating unique data stories for your group. These include titles like “most obsessed fan,” “early bird,” “picky listener,” or “dinner table explainer” for the person who listens to the most news podcasts. These awards update dynamically each time you start a session.

Another new feature adds play counts to your Top Songs Playlist, showing exactly how much time you spent with each track. Other standout additions include an interactive Top Song Quiz where you guess your top songs, a Listening Age feature that compares your 2025 music taste to others in your age group, and Wrapped Clubs.

Wrapped Clubs match you to one of six unique listening styles, such as the “Soft Hearts Club” or “Club Serotonin.” Within your club, you receive a role like leader, scout, or archivist based on your listening habits.

As in prior years, you will see your top songs, artists, genres, and, newly, top albums. Metrics for audiobooks and podcasts are included if you use those features. Artists, writers, and podcasters will have their own version of Wrapped, and top fans will receive video messages from their favorites, now including authors.

Notably absent from this year’s Wrapped is any feature advertised as being made with AI. In a press briefing, Spotify’s Senior Director of Global Marketing, Matt Luhks, acknowledged the company received significant feedback about the 2024 AI-focused experience. He stated that user feedback was instrumental in shaping this year’s approach, aiming to build the most creative and engaging Wrapped ever.

While the overall experience was not made with AI, the company confirmed it uses a large language model to add a storytelling layer and natural language summaries to your data.

This attempt to revitalize Wrapped comes as Spotify faces increased competition from Apple, Amazon, YouTube, and others, all of which now offer their own annual review features inspired by Wrapped. Spotify believes Wrapped still sets the standard for these year-end recaps.

Alongside the consumer experience, Spotify shared its global top artists, songs, albums, podcasts, and audiobooks for the year. Top winners included Bad Bunny for top song and album, “The Joe Rogan Experience” for top podcast, and Rebeca Yarros, author of “Fourth Wing,” among others.
