Spotify is rolling out Audiobook Charts

Spotify has launched Audiobook Charts for the United States and the United Kingdom. Similar to the company’s existing Music and Podcast Charts, the Audiobook Charts will be updated weekly. They will highlight the most popular audiobooks overall and within specific genres. These rankings are based entirely on listener behavior and engagement on the streaming service.

Both free and premium users can access the new charts. To find them, users can tap the search button in the Spotify app and select the Audiobooks tile. Once inside the audiobooks hub, scrolling down to the Dive Deeper section will reveal the charts.

This launch represents Spotify’s latest major investment in audiobooks, following its official entry into the format in 2022. Since then, the platform has introduced additional features like the Page Match tool. This feature allows a user to scan a page from a physical book and instantly jump to that same spot in the audiobook. Another feature, Audiobook Recaps, provides short audio summaries to help listeners catch up on their previous progress.

Spotify states the new charts will benefit both listeners and creators. They offer listeners a trusted way to discover popular titles while creating new opportunities for authors and the publishing industry to reach wider audiences. A company executive noted that proven success with Music and Podcast Charts shows that when content is easier to discover, demand grows. The goal is to bring that same effect to audiobooks and connect books more deeply with real-time culture.

It is important to note that Spotify’s interest in books extends beyond audio. The streaming service recently announced a venture into physical book sales. Through a partnership, users in the U.S. and U.K. will soon be able to purchase physical copies of books directly within the Spotify app.
