Snapchat launches creator subscriptions in the US

Snapchat has announced the launch of creator subscriptions. The feature is starting in alpha with a select group of people in the United States beginning February 23. Users will be able to buy subscriptions to creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. This initiative aims to unlock exclusive content for users while creating new monetization opportunities for creators.

Creators can set their own monthly subscription prices within the app, with Snap providing recommended tier options. A subscription will grant access to subscriber-only content, priority replies to a creator’s public Stories, and an ad-free experience for that creator’s Stories.

Snap noted this is a new way for creators to earn money, expanding on existing programs like the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio. The company stated that Creator Subscriptions introduce a premium layer of connection directly into how users already engage with creators across Stories, Chat, and replies.

According to its fourth quarter 2025 results, Snapchat reached 946 million daily active users. The platform also reported that the number of U.S.-based users posting to Spotlight grew over 47% year-over-year. Last month, the company spun out its hardware division into a new standalone entity called Specs.

Snap plans to expand the creator subscription program to Snap Stars in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France in the coming weeks.

Rival company Meta also allows creators to offer subscriptions on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, which provides users with access to exclusive content and badges.
