Salesforce announced the latest version of its AI agent platform on Monday. The company aims to attract enterprises to its AI software within a competitive market. The customer relationship management giant unveiled this new platform, branded Agentforce 360, ahead of its annual Dreamforce customer conference starting October 14. This updated version of Agentforce introduces new methods for instructing AI agents through text, a new platform for building and deploying agents, and new infrastructure for the messaging app Slack.
A key feature of Agentforce 360 is a new AI agent prompting tool called Agent Script, scheduled for a beta release in November. Agent Script gives users the ability to program their AI agents for greater flexibility and improved responses to conditional situations. This programming allows AI agents to behave more predictably in dynamic scenarios like customer service inquiries.
Users can also access reasoning models, which are designed to think before responding instead of relying solely on pattern recognition. These reasoning agents are powered by technology from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini.
Salesforce also announced a new agent building tool named Agentforce Builder. This tool allows users to build, test, and deploy AI agents from a single location. Set for a beta release in November, it includes an enterprise-grade app coding tool that Salesforce announced earlier this month.
The company revealed a broader integration between Agentforce and Slack. Salesforce stated that its core apps, including Agentforce Sales, IT, and HR, will begin to appear directly within Slack this month, with a full rollout continuing into early 2026. Slack is also piloting a new version of its Slackbot chatbot, which is intended to function as a personalized AI agent that learns about its user to provide insights and suggestions.
Salesforce envisions Slack serving as an enterprise search tool in the future. The company plans to launch connectors with platforms like Gmail, Outlook, and Dropbox in early 2026.
This update arrives at a significant time for the enterprise AI market. Many companies are releasing AI features for enterprise customers, while those enterprises often struggle to see a clear return on investment from such tools.
Last week, Google announced Gemini Enterprise, a suite of tools for building enterprise-grade AI agents. Figma, Klarna, and Virgin Voyages are among its early customers. Anthropic has also shown traction for its enterprise product, Claude Enterprise. The company secured a deal with consulting firm Deloitte to provide its Claude chatbot to Deloitte’s 500,000 global employees, marking its largest enterprise agreement. Anthropic also announced a strategic partnership with IBM.
Salesforce reports that Agentforce has 12,000 customers, a figure it claims is significantly higher than its competitors. Early pilot customers for the Agentforce 360 upgrades include Lennar, Adecco, and Pearson.
This activity persists despite a recent MIT study which found that 95 percent of enterprise AI pilots fail before reaching production, as companies continue to struggle with justifying spending on AI tools.
