On Thursday, Palantir announced a new partnership with Lumen Technologies. This agreement will have the telecommunications company using Palantir’s AI software to build capabilities for enterprise AI services.
The companies are describing the deal as a multi-year, multi-million-dollar strategic partnership. However, Bloomberg reports that Lumen will spend over 200 million dollars on Palantir’s technology over several years, according to anonymous sources.
Under the agreement, Lumen will integrate Palantir’s Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform with its own edge computing, broadband infrastructure, and other digital services. This partnership arrives as Lumen works to transform itself from a traditional telecom provider into a more modern technology infrastructure company.
In September, the company said it was collaborating with Palantir to integrate the latter’s software into its operations, finance, and technology functions to transform its network and services with speed. Lumen would not confirm the deal’s value, but a company spokesperson stated that using Palantir’s technology was a material contributor to achieving 350 million dollars in cost reductions in 2025. He added that the lessons from that initial collaboration informed the decision to take their partnership to the enterprise market. Lumen has committed to reducing expenses by one billion dollars by 2027 and reports it is already ahead of plan.
The spokesperson said that Palantir demonstrated its platforms could unlock Lumen’s data faster and cheaper than traditional methods, and together they are pursuing solutions to help large enterprises do the same. For Palantir, this is the latest in a long series of deals where it has partnered with various companies and government organizations to sell its AI products and services. Including the Lumen agreement, Palantir has struck nineteen partnerships this year alone across sectors like aviation, healthcare, telecom, contract management, data management, and defense.
The CEO of Lumen Technologies, Kate Johnson, said in a statement that by bringing AI into real-world operations through a connected ecosystem, they are empowering businesses to reinvent how they operate, compete, and grow. Palantir did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
