Oura launches Ring 4 Ceramic collection, new charging case, and a ‘health panel’feature

Oura announced on Tuesday the launch of the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic. This is the company’s first collection of smart rings that does not feature metallic finishes. The company also announced its first-ever charging case, a new Health Panels feature, multi-ring support, and more.

The new Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is made from zirconia ceramic, which the company says provides durability and lightweight comfort. Oura describes the new ceramic collection as combining style and comfort. Unlike painted or coated finishes, the color on the rings comes from natural minerals in the ceramic itself, so it stays vibrant and does not fade over time.

The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic comes with a Polishing Pad that can wipe off scuffs caused by softer metals, like those found in cookware or dumbbells. To avoid scuffing, Oura suggests wearing the ring on your non-dominant hand to avoid unnecessary impact.

The ring is available in four colors: Tide, Cloud, Petal, and Midnight. The collection is priced at $499, with membership pricing at $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year. The rings are available in sizes 4 through 15.

A company executive stated that the goal with the ceramic collection is to give people more reasons to wear an Oura ring. The rings are made from a ceramic zirconia material more traditionally seen in watchmaking or jewelry. The colors are described as youthful and expressive, but also neutral enough for everyday wear. He emphasized that the product is not just a tech device but something worn visibly on the body, allowing for new ways for people to express themselves.

Regarding the new Oura Ring 4 Charging Case, the company created it in response to members asking for a way to charge their ring while on the go. The case stores up to five full ring charges and works with a USB-C cord. Both the case and the Oura Ring fully charge in 90 minutes. The case can also serve as a secure way to store your ring when you are not wearing it. The charging case will cost $99 and be available to order later this year.

Oura also introduced Health Panels in its app. This feature enables members to track 50 biomarkers alongside their daily sleep, readiness, and activity data. With Health Panels, members can use the Oura app to book a blood test at one of over 2,000 Quest Diagnostics labs across the United States for $99.

The company explained that users will be able to walk in for their blood work without a long wait. The results will then be sent directly to the user in the Oura app. The Oura Advisor will be available to help interpret the data and isolate meaningful takeaways. The app will show what biomarkers are in range and which are out of range, and it will help users understand what they can do to impact these metrics.

Members can ask questions in the app about their specific results, such as what a particular A1C level means or how to improve their cholesterol. The combination of blood biomarkers and Oura Ring data can reveal patterns and connections among lifestyle, behaviors, and underlying health trends that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The idea behind Health Panels is to provide users with affordable access to comprehensive blood work. The executive noted that when you visit a doctor for a specific issue, they often order lab tests but only focus on that initial concern, potentially overlooking other valuable data in the results. That broader data can offer important insights into your overall health. While services for self-ordered blood tests already exist, they can be expensive, which is why Oura is launching Health Panels at $99.

Finally, Oura announced that members can now pair and switch between different Oura Ring 4 colors under a single account. This functionality allows members to match their Oura Ring to their day, whether they are switching it out for a workout or an outfit.
