Netflix has launched a new television experience for kids’ profiles around the world. This update is designed to simplify the design and navigation. It represents the company’s latest effort to help users find content they will enjoy more quickly.
Earlier this year, Netflix introduced a similar redesign for standard profiles. That update included an AI-powered search tool, improved recommendations, and more visible shortcuts. Now, the company has brought the same update to kids’ profiles, along with other changes made specifically for younger users.
The new design offers a simplified look and feel for the homepage. It also features a new navigation bar at the top. This bar links to a “My Netflix” section, which gathers everything a child has watched, saved, and liked in one place. This makes it easier for users to return to favorite content, which is something younger viewers often do by rewatching their preferred movies and episodes.
Furthermore, Netflix says kids’ recommendations will now refresh in real-time, just as they do on standard profiles. The company hopes this will reduce the amount of time children spend searching for something to watch.
Some elements of the Kids profile will remain unchanged. The Character Themed Rows, Mystery Box suggestions, and parental controls are all still available.
Netflix also announced other updates today. These new features include real-time voting, live party games, and podcasts. For example, next year Netflix will launch real-time voting for its new show “Star Search,” following earlier tests with “Dinner Time Live with David Chang.”
The company states that the new user interface is connected to these changes. It provides a more flexible canvas for different kinds of creative content, including interactive programming.
