Mistral, the French AI giant, is reportedly on the cusp of securing a $14Bvaluation

French AI startup Mistral AI is finalizing a new 2 billion euro investment. This funding round would value the company at 14 billion dollars, positioning it as one of the most valuable tech startups in Europe. This information was reported by Bloomberg.

The two-year-old company is a recognized rival to OpenAI. It was founded by former researchers from DeepMind and Meta. Mistral AI develops open source language models and an AI chatbot named Le Chat, which is built specifically for European audiences.

The company is not commenting on the report. If completed, this investment would be Mistral’s first major fundraising event since June 2024, when it achieved a valuation of 5.8 billion euros. Previously, the startup has raised over one billion euros from prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst.

This potential investment occurs as European AI startups are gaining significant momentum. According to data from Dealroom, investment in European AI companies grew by 55 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025. In the first half of the year, twelve European startups achieved unicorn status.

Another company leading this surge is Sweden’s Lovable, an AI coding platform. Lovable reached a 1.8 billion dollar valuation in July, a mere eight months after its initial launch.
