Meta is pausing its plans to sell its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses outside the United States. The company cited unprecedented demand and limited supply as the reason for this decision. Meta had originally intended to launch the glasses in France, Italy, Canada, and the United Kingdom in early 2026.
The company stated that since the product launched last fall, it has seen an overwhelming amount of interest. As a result, product waitlists now extend well into 2026. Because of this high demand and limited inventory, Meta has decided to pause its planned international expansion. It will instead focus on fulfilling existing orders in the U.S. while it re-evaluates its approach to international availability.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses were unveiled in September. They are controlled by a wristband called the Meta Neural Band, which detects subtle hand gestures. At the CES event in Las Vegas this week, Meta demonstrated new features coming to both the glasses and the Neural Band.
The glasses will receive a new teleprompter feature, providing users with a portable way to deliver prepared remarks. Additionally, users can now write messages using their finger on any surface while wearing the Meta Neural Band; those movements are then transcribed into digital messages. Meta is also expanding the glasses’ pedestrian navigation feature to include Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City.
