Lucid Motors recalls over 4,000 Gravity SUVs citing improperly welded seat belts

Lucid Motors has largely overcome its early quality issues with the Gravity SUV. However, the company has issued a recall for over 4,000 vehicles due to a seat belt problem. During unrelated safety testing, Lucid discovered that some second-row seat belt anchors were not properly welded. This flaw could prevent the belts from holding passengers in a collision.

Lucid states the issue resulted from its seat supplier changing the manufacturing process without approval. The supplier has since reverted to the original design. Only Gravity SUVs built before February 14, 2026 are affected.

The automaker will inspect all recalled vehicles. Depending on the weld quality, it will install a reinforcement bracket or a completely new seat.
