Now you have a way to prove your AI skills to your LinkedIn followers. LinkedIn announced a new partnership that allows users to display official certifications in AI skills, using data from popular AI applications. The initial integration includes the video and podcast editor Descript, the coding platforms Lovable and Replit, and the AI agent building platform Relay.app.
These platforms will use AI to assess your skills as you work. They will generate a certificate based on your usage patterns, the outcomes you achieve, and your overall proficiency with the tools. LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, did not provide exact details on the specific requirements to qualify as proficient on each platform.
Once granted, these certifications will appear directly on your LinkedIn profile alongside your other professional skills. LinkedIn plans to expand the program by adding more partners in the coming months, including Gamma, GitHub, and Zapier. The platform is also inviting other companies to register their interest in becoming a partner for this new verified skills program.
Hari Srinivasan, VP of Product at LinkedIn, explained the importance of this move in a statement. He said that jobs now require fluency in the technology employers depend on, and that AI proficiency is the most in-demand skill. He noted that with over 100 million professionals having already verified their identity on LinkedIn, the addition of verified skills offers a new way to prove what you can actually do.
This focus on AI skills is backed by market trends. A report from the learning platform edX, published last August, found that the number of job postings requiring AI as a skill doubled in the previous twelve months. A separate report from Indeed’s Hiring Lab echoed this trend, noting that U.S. job postings mentioning AI-related keywords rose to 4.2% by the end of 2025. While the tech sector remains the most common area for these postings, other industries like banking and marketing are also seeing a significant rise.
