Kohler unveils a camera for your toilet

Home goods company Kohler recently unveiled a new device called the Dekoda. It is a five hundred ninety-nine dollar camera that can be attached to your toilet bowl to take pictures of what is inside.

According to reports, the Dekoda analyzes these images to provide updates on your gut health and hydration. It is also designed to potentially detect blood. The device comes with a rechargeable battery, a USB connection, and a fingerprint sensor to identify the person using the toilet.

The Dekoda is currently available for pre-order. Shipments are scheduled to begin on October twenty-first. In addition to the hardware purchase fee, customers will need to pay a subscription that costs between seventy and one hundred fifty-six dollars.

For those uneasy about the privacy implications of a camera placed in such a private area, the company offers reassurance. They state that Dekoda’s sensors see down into the toilet and nowhere else. The company also notes that all resulting data is secured with end-to-end encryption.

Kohler is not the only company seeking to take pictures of your waste. Other startups, such as one named Throne, have also developed similar toilet camera technology.
