Iran has warned of further attacks on data centers across the Middle East in response to ongoing U.S. threats and air strikes. A military spokesperson stated that if the U.S. strikes Iranian civilian infrastructure, Iran will retaliate against U.S. energy and tech infrastructure in the region. A recently released video highlighted the Stargate data center in the United Arab Emirates with a threatening message. Stargate is a joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle to build AI data centers, announced in early 2025. This threat follows a U.S. warning to strike Iranian power and water plants if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by a Tuesday deadline. Several data centers have already been hit, including Amazon Web Services in Bahrain and an Oracle center in Dubai. Iran also recently threatened tech companies like Nvidia and Apple by name.
