Honor has launched its new foldable phone, the Honor Magic V6, featuring a massive 6,600 mAh battery and a new sturdy hinge. The announcement comes just ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The company continues its pursuit of creating the thinnest foldables. This year’s model measures 4mm thick when unfolded and 8.75mm when folded. This is a slight refinement from last year’s Magic V5, which was 4.1mm unfolded and 8.8mm folded.
The battery is a standout feature. The 6,600 mAh capacity is a significant increase from the 5,820 mAh battery in the previous model. Using Honor’s SuperCharge technology, the phone supports 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. Furthermore, Honor showcased a new silicon-carbon battery technology with 32% silicon density that could enable future foldable phone batteries to exceed 7,000 mAh.
The device sports a 7.95-inch main AMOLED display with a 2352 x 2172 pixel resolution, alongside a 6.52-inch cover display with 2420 x 1080 pixel resolution. Both screens support LTPO 2.0, allowing for a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz to improve both content legibility and power efficiency.
For durability, Honor introduced a new Super Steel Hinge with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, designed for sturdy long-term use. The company also states it has reduced the display crease depth by 44% for a smoother appearance. An anti-reflective coating on the external screen achieves a reflectivity rating of just 1.5%.
Internally, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The camera system includes three rear sensors: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. On the front, there are dual 20-megapixel cameras.
Honor is also enhancing cross-device compatibility with Apple products. The Magic V6 can establish two-way notification sync with an iPhone and display notifications on an Apple Watch. It can share files with Mac computers with one tap and even function as an extended display for a Mac.
Honor has not specified pricing but confirmed the Magic V6 will be released in select international markets in the second half of the year.
