HBO Max is going to get more expensive, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO says

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has announced upcoming changes for HBO Max, stating that the streaming service will become more expensive. He also confirmed plans to make it harder for users to share their passwords.

Zaslav spoke about the future of the streaming service at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference. He explained that the high quality of the company’s content across motion picture, television production, and streaming provides an opportunity to raise prices. He stated that the service is currently considered to be way underpriced.

Regarding password sharing, Zaslav noted that the company has not yet focused on the economics of cracking down on the practice. He said that as people grow to love HBO Max and its content, including its series and differentiated international offerings, the company will begin to push on restricting password sharing.

The current pricing for HBO Max includes a Basic with Ads plan for $9.99 per month, a Standard plan for $16.99 per month, and a Premium plan for $20.99 per month.
