Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most anticipated video games of all time, has been delayed again. The new release date is November 19, 2026. The game was originally scheduled for a fall 2025 release but was first pushed back to May 2026.
On Thursday, Rockstar Games announced that the development team requires another six months. The company stated they are sorry for adding more time to what has been a long wait. They explained that these extra months will allow them to finish the game with the level of polish that fans have come to expect and deserve.
Grand Theft Auto VI is the sequel to Grand Theft Auto V, which was released in 2013. According to Guinness World Records, that previous game became the fastest entertainment property to reach one billion dollars in sales, hitting the milestone after just three days on the market.
Fans are extremely eager for the next installment. When Rockstar Games released the trailer for the game in December 2023, it broke the record for the most YouTube views in a 24-hour period, excluding music videos.
Rockstar Games did not provide additional details about this latest delay. Last week, the company fired between 30 and 40 employees for allegedly sharing confidential information in a Discord server.
