Google’s Gemini AI is coming to your TV

Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, is coming to your television. The company announced it is introducing Gemini for Google TV. This will allow TV owners to have free-flowing, natural language conversations with the AI.

When the rollout is complete, this expansion will bring Google’s AI to over 300 million active Google TV and other Android TV OS devices.

For television-related tasks, Google suggests Gemini could help people with different tastes find a show they will both enjoy. It could also catch you up on what you missed in a previous season of a favorite program. You can ask for help finding a movie when you cannot remember its title or inquire about reviews to decide if something is worth watching.

Because it is Gemini, you can ask any other type of question as well, just like you can with the AI chatbot on a smartphone.

For example, kids and parents could use the AI for homework help or to brainstorm school project ideas. Families might use Gemini to plan a vacation, or individuals could leverage the AI to learn a new skill.

The company stresses that adding Gemini does not remove the existing functions of the standard Google Assistant integration. Those voice commands will continue to work.

The Gemini rollout for Google TV begins on the TCL QM9K series starting now. Later this year, Gemini will arrive on the Google TV Streamer, the Walmart Onn 4K Pro, 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, and 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models. More functionality will be added over time.
