Google’s new, more affordable AI Plus plan is now available in over 40 countries. This expanded list includes Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
The company first introduced its AI Plus plan earlier this month in Indonesia, where it was priced at 75,000 Rupiah, or approximately $4.50 per month. In most other countries, the plan costs around $5 each month. Google has announced it will offer a 50 percent discount for the first six months in a few locations, such as Nepal and Mexico.
The Plus tier provides access to Gemini 2.5 Pro. It also unlocks tools for image and video creation like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. Subscribers gain access to more features on the AI research assistant NotebookLM and can use AI within Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. The plan also includes 200GB of cloud storage.
This news follows OpenAI’s expansion of its own sub-$5 plan, called ChatGPT Go, into Indonesia just one day prior. It is notable that India, where OpenAI first launched ChatGPT Go, is not included on Google’s new country list.
Both companies offer a base AI plan for $20 per month. However, with these new, cheaper subscription tiers, they are aiming to attract more paying users in parts of the world where a $20 monthly fee is often considered too expensive.
