Google is launching a global expansion of its experimental AI Mode feature. The company announced on Thursday that this tool allows users to ask complex, multi-part questions and follow-ups to explore a topic more deeply directly within Search. As part of this expansion, Google is bringing AI Mode to 180 new countries in English. The feature was previously only available to users in the U.S., U.K., and India. Google plans to introduce the feature to more languages and regions in the near future.
The tech giant is also introducing new agentic and personalized capabilities to AI Mode. With the new agentic features, users can now utilize AI Mode to find restaurant reservations. In the future, the feature will also help users find local service appointments and event tickets. Users can request dinner reservations based on multiple preferences, such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. AI Mode will then search across different reservation platforms to find real-time availability for restaurants that match the inquiry and will present a curated list of options to choose from.
This new capability is initially rolling out for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. through the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Labs, which is Google’s experimental arm. The Ultra plan is Google’s highest-end subscription tier, priced at $249.99 per month.
Google also announced that U.S. users enrolled in the AI Mode experiment will now see search results tailored to their individual preferences and interests. The company is starting with dining-related topics for this personalized capability. For example, if someone searches for a quick lunch spot with limited time, AI Mode will use their past conversations, along with places they have searched for or clicked on in Search and Maps, to offer more relevant suggestions. If the system infers a user likes Italian food and places with outdoor seating, it will prioritize results matching those preferences. Google notes that users can adjust these personalization settings within their Google Account.
In addition, AI Mode now includes a feature that lets users share and collaborate with others. A new “Share” button allows users to send an AI Mode response to someone else, enabling them to jump into the same conversation. Google suggests this could be particularly helpful for collaborative tasks like planning a trip or a birthday party.
