Google is bringing its AI Mode feature to Spanish-speaking users. This AI-powered search experience introduces a conversational interface that allows people to ask questions using natural language. Users can engage in back-and-forth dialogues, upload images for analysis, and explore complex topics in greater depth.
This expansion follows a major global rollout in August, when Google made AI Mode available in 180 additional countries. Before that expansion, the feature was only accessible in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. During the August update, Google also introduced advanced capabilities for its Google AI Ultra subscribers, such as the ability to request restaurant reservations directly within AI Mode. The company has stated plans to add support for other types of appointments and event ticket purchases in the future.
Google’s announcement about Spanish-language support is part of a broader pattern of rapid AI integration across its services. On the same Tuesday, the company also revealed that conversational photo editing is now available to all Android users in the United States. It also announced that its more affordable Google AI Plus subscription plan, first introduced in Indonesia, is expanding to 40 more countries.
This competitive landscape includes OpenAI’s recent launch of its ChatGPT Go plan. This mid-tier subscription option launched in India in August and arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday. The ChatGPT Go plan offers higher usage limits than the free version for sending prompts, generating images, and uploading files. OpenAI states the plan also improves the AI’s ability to remember previous conversations for more personalized responses.
Earlier this month, Google announced that AI Mode now supports several other languages in addition to Spanish, including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese.
With many similar-sounding products, users might find it difficult to tell the difference between features like AI Mode and AI Overviews. AI Mode is a separate, immersive experience where users chat directly with the Gemini AI. In contrast, AI Overviews provide a quick, AI-generated summary of information that appears at the top of standard Google Search results.
