Google tests revamped Google Finance with AI upgrades, live news feed

Google announced on Friday that it is updating Google Finance, its tool for financial information and business news, with new AI capabilities. Users will now be able to research financial questions using AI, access advanced charting tools, and receive real-time data and news.

With the update, users can ask detailed finance-related questions and receive comprehensive AI-generated responses, including links to relevant sources. Instead of searching for individual stock details separately, they can now ask complex questions in a single query.

The new charting tools are designed to help users visualize financial data beyond basic asset performance. These tools include technical indicators like moving average envelopes, as well as display options such as candlestick charts.

Google Finance is also expanding its market data coverage to include commodities and additional cryptocurrencies. A new live news feed will provide real-time headlines to keep users updated.

This update positions Google Finance to compete with platforms like Yahoo Finance and Seeking Alpha. By enhancing the service with AI-powered answers and advanced charts, Google aims to retain users who might otherwise turn to AI chatbots like ChatGPT for complex financial queries.

The AI-powered version of Google Finance will roll out in the U.S. over the coming weeks. Users will have the option to switch between the new and old designs.
