Productivity is an area where companies continue to experiment with AI assistants. The goal is to save users time, encouraging them to use these assistants more frequently. Google has now launched an experimental email-based assistant called CC through Google Labs. Powered by Gemini, CC can connect to your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar accounts. It provides a daily brief called “Your Day Ahead” via email. This email makes users aware of their tasks, summarizes their calendar, and delivers key updates for the day drawn from these connected accounts.
You can reply to CC or email it directly at any time with various requests. These include adding to-dos, teaching it your preferences, having it remember notes, or asking it to search for information.
Currently, CC is available only to AI Pro and Ultra users in the U.S. and Canada who are 18 years of age or older. Google states the assistant is available for consumer Google accounts at this time and not for Workspace accounts.
There are several other examples of AI-powered email-based briefs and assistants. Sequoia-backed Mindy, which now operates in the creator and marketing space, began as an email assistant. Other meeting notetakers like Read AI and Fireflies also send users a daily brief, though they may lack context from email and Drive. Huxe, an audio app created by former Google NotebookLM developers, creates a daily brief in podcast form using data from your email, calendar, and news preferences.
