If your Gmail account was not working properly on Saturday, you were not alone. Google has confirmed the issue is now resolved.
According to the official Google Workspace status dashboard, problems began around 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday morning. Users reported a misclassification of emails in their inboxes and saw additional spam warnings.
For many, this meant their Primary inbox was filled with messages that normally belong in Promotions, Social, or Updates tabs. Spam warnings also appeared on emails from known and trusted senders. On social media, other users complained that all their spam was going directly to the inbox and that Gmail’s filtering systems seemed suddenly broken.
Google updated its dashboard throughout the day on Saturday, stating the company was working to resolve the problem. By Saturday evening, Google posted that the issue had been fully resolved for all users.
In a dashboard update, the company said, “Some Gmail users experienced a misclassification of emails in their inbox, delays in receiving email. Additionally, misclassified spam warnings from the incident may persist for existing messages received before the issue resolution.”
Google also stated it will publish an analysis of this incident once its internal investigation is complete.
