Google is introducing new features to simplify sharing local knowledge on Maps. Most notably, Gemini can now generate captions for photos and videos you want to share. You can edit or remove these suggestions. This tool is available first in English on iOS in the U.S., with global and Android expansion coming soon.
The update also makes finding the right image easier. With media access enabled, your recent photos appear directly in the Contribute tab for quick posting. Your shared media helps others understand a place’s vibe or latest offerings.
Google is also improving contributor recognition. You can now see your total points in the Contribute tab, and Local Guide levels are highlighted on profiles. Updated achievement badges identify experts, like master photographers. These features support over 500 million contributors who keep Maps information fresh and helpful.
