Google has launched its more affordable AI Plus subscription plan in India. This move positions the company to compete on price with other low-cost AI services, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go subscription.
For new users in India, the AI Plus plan is priced at ₹199 per month for the first six months. After this introductory period, the monthly fee will rise to ₹399. The plan provides several benefits, including higher usage limits for the Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro image editing models. Subscribers also gain access to video generation features within the Gemini and Flow apps, expanded deep research capabilities in NotebookLM, and 200GB of storage shared across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. The subscription can also be shared with family members.
Previously, Google’s most affordable AI subscription in India was the AI Pro plan, which cost ₹1,950 per month. However, Google’s tailored pricing for India arrives after similar adjustments in other markets. The AI Plus plan was first introduced in Indonesia in September before being rolled out to numerous other countries.
OpenAI entered the competitive Indian market earlier, debuting its sub-$5 ChatGPT Go plan in August and expanding it globally in the following months. That plan offers users ten times the limits of the free version for messages, image generation, and file uploads.
AI companies are actively pursuing India’s vast population with promotional offers. Perplexity previously partnered with telecom operator Airtel to provide its Pro plan free for one year to Airtel customers. OpenAI also offered its ChatGPT Go plan free for one year to both existing and new users in India.
Concurrently, Google collaborated with Reliance Jio to offer its AI Pro plan at no cost for 18 months to users on specific Jio mobile plans.
