Google is rolling out a new device protection program called Pixel Care+. The tech giant announced the new program on Wednesday. Pixel Care+ will replace Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection in the United States. Current monthly subscribers will be automatically transitioned to the new program in the coming months.
Google stated that Pixel Care+ provides a higher level of coverage, service, and peace of mind for Google hardware owners. The comprehensive new program includes unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, and mechanical breakdowns. It also features zero-dollar screen and battery repairs and zero-dollar post-warranty malfunction claims.
All repairs use genuine Google parts and replacements. Subscribers also receive priority support from Pixel experts and can manage self-service claims directly through the Google Store website. An optional add-on for loss and theft coverage is also available.
Pixel Care+ members get free upgraded shipping on all replacements, including next-day delivery. Pricing for the program varies by device. For example, coverage for a Pixel 10 costs ten dollars per month or a one-time payment of one hundred ninety-nine dollars for two years.
Pixel Care+ is available in the U.S. starting now for new eligible devices. Eligible products include the Pixel 8 and newer models, the Pixel Watch 2 and up, the Pixel Tablet, the Fitbit Ace LTE, the Fitbit Versa 4, the Fitbit Sense 2, the Fitbit Charge 6, and the Fitbit Inspire 3. The program must be added within 60 days of purchasing a new device.
Users can open a repair claim directly from the Google Store by selecting a preferred location and time for service. Claims can also be filed directly through the My Pixel App.
