Customer service can make or break a brand, and a recent interaction between Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Stripe co-founder John Collison highlights how powerful responsiveness can be.
On Wednesday, Pichai announced on X that Google Calendar had rolled out a new feature allowing users to duplicate events. This update came after Collison publicly requested the feature last month, tagging Pichai in his post. Collison had asked for a simple Ctrl-click option to duplicate events, similar to what many native calendar apps already offer.
While it’s common for users to tag companies and executives with feedback, it’s rare for a CEO to not only acknowledge the request but also implement the change. Pichai confirmed the update with a post, saying, “This feature is now live for everyone on Google Calendar on the web—thanks for the suggestion!”
The quick response sparked playful reactions from other X users, who jokingly asked Collison to advocate for their own requests. Box CEO Aaron Levie quipped, referencing the notoriously congested El Camino Real in Silicon Valley, “John, can you ask Waymo to work on El Camino through the peninsula? Thanks!”
