If your Gmail account does not seem to be working properly today, you are not alone. The official status dashboard for Google Workspace indicates that the issues began at around 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday morning. Users have reported problems with the misclassification of emails in their inbox and the appearance of additional spam warnings.
For many, this meant their Primary inbox was filled with messages that would normally appear in the Promotions, Social, or Updates tabs. Spam warnings also appeared on emails from known and trusted senders.
Other users have shared their experiences on social media, noting that all spam is going directly to their inbox and that Gmail’s filtering systems seem to have suddenly stopped working correctly.
Google has acknowledged the problem, stating they are actively working to resolve the issue. The company also reminded users to follow standard best practices when engaging with messages from unknown senders. TechCrunch has reached out to Google for additional comment.
