Gamma adds AI image-generation tools in bid to take on Canva and Adobe

Gamma is launching a new image-generation product called Gamma Imagine. This tool allows users to create marketing assets using text prompts. The platform aims to better compete with established players like Canva and Adobe.

The new product will enable the creation of brand-specific assets. These include interactive charts, visualizations, marketing collateral, social graphics, and infographics. Gamma currently offers over 100 templates that work alongside its AI tools to build necessary assets.

To power these data-driven features, Gamma is integrating with several other tools. These integrations include ChatGPT, Claude, Make, Zapier, Atlassian, n8n, and Superhuman Go.

Gamma’s CEO and co-founder, Grant Lee, explained the development. He stated that early users revealed a common need for various graphical design use cases within their presentations. The company worked with these users to develop a new set of tools that moves beyond the traditional presentation format.

Lee positions Gamma between professional tools like Adobe or Figma and legacy tools like Microsoft PowerPoint. He believes the platform serves a large segment of knowledge workers and business professionals. These individuals need to communicate visually but lack specialized design tools, often requiring external design resources. Gamma aims to provide an AI-native approach for this underserved middle ground.

Last November, Gamma raised $68 million in a Series B funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The round valued the company at $2.1 billion. At that time, the company reported an annual recurring revenue of $100 million and 70 million users. Gamma now states it is approaching 100 million users.
