Airport chaos is increasingly common, and the popular flight-tracking app Flighty has released a new feature to help travelers navigate it. The “Airport Intelligence” feature provides users with real-time alerts about disruptions and their causes across 14,000 airports worldwide.
This release is particularly timely. Ongoing tensions in the Middle East have led to numerous flight delays, cancellations, and airport shutdowns. Simultaneously, the United States is facing a shortage of Transportation Security Administration agents, resulting in closed security checkpoints and extremely long lines at airports.
Flighty is making this feature available as a free web dashboard, allowing all users to track airport disruptions. The company states it uses the same professional data that pilots and airlines rely on. This data includes thousands of real-time airport advisories like Meteorological Aerodrome Reports, Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts, and Notices to Airmen. This information gives Flighty a clear picture of airport operations, including ground stops, landing procedures, and other safety protocols.
The app translates these technical aviation messages into simple language so users can understand how their travel may be affected. Flighty CEO Ryan Jones explained that airport meltdowns are now frequent, and until now it took an aviation expert to explain why. He stated that Airport Intelligence turns raw data into real insights so travelers always know what is happening at their airport.
The update introduces several other features. It provides airport warnings for issues like hail, low visibility, de-icing, and lightning. It also offers AI-powered summaries to forecast delays and explain how different factors could impact a flight. A Deep Airport Stats section shows the busiest airlines, most impacted routes, airport rankings, official flight rules, and links to airport websites and directions.
Additional new tools include favorite airport alerts and airport boards that display all arrivals and departures with performance trends. Users can also compare their airport visits with friends within the app. Beyond the intelligence feature, Flighty now includes a TV mode for broadcasters, creators, and newsrooms to display the live status of an airport on a screen with an updating ticker.
