DuckDuckGo adds access to advanced AI models to its subscription plan

Privacy-focused consumer tech company DuckDuckGo has expanded its subscription plan. The plan, originally launched last year, bundles a VPN service, personal information removal, and identity theft restoration. The company announced that this subscription now includes access to the latest AI models through Duck.ai at no additional cost.

The Duck.ai chatbot is free for anyone to use, providing access to models like Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Haiku, Meta’s Llama 4 Scout, Mistral AI’s Mistral Small 3 24B, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini. However, subscribers to DuckDuckGo’s $9.99 per month plan will gain access to newer, more advanced models. These include OpenAI’s GPT-4o and GPT-5, Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4, and Meta’s Llama Maverick.

According to the company, these larger models are better at following detailed instructions, maintaining context through extended conversations, and delivering deeper, more nuanced responses. The DuckDuckGo subscription offers a way to use these powerful models with an added focus on privacy.

This presents a good opportunity for users who want to access the latest AI models without being locked into a single provider. For comparison, Quora’s Poe also offers access to a variety of models, with its subscription starting at $5 per month.

DuckDuckGo has stated it will continue to add more expensive plans to its paid product that offer even larger and more highly advanced models. The company did not specify whether the current plan has any usage limits.
