Disney is increasing the prices for Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions once again. The new pricing will take effect starting October 21, affecting many of the streaming services’ standalone plans and bundle options.
The Disney+ standalone plan with ads will rise by two dollars to eleven dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. The ad-free Disney+ Premium plan will see a three-dollar increase, bringing the monthly cost to eighteen dollars and ninety-nine cents. The annual Disney+ Premium plan is also going up by thirty dollars to one hundred eighty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents per year.
For Hulu, the basic plan with ads is increasing from nine dollars and ninety-nine cents to eleven dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. However, the premium Hulu plan with no ads will remain at its current price of eighteen dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. The price of ESPN Select is also increasing by one dollar to twelve dollars and ninety-nine cents per month.
Bundle subscriptions are also affected. The Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will cost two dollars more at twelve dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. The larger bundle including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select with ads is increasing by three dollars to nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents per month.
This round of price increases comes at a challenging time for Disney+. Last week, a significant number of subscribers canceled their subscriptions in protest of Disney’s decision to temporarily pull Jimmy Kimmel from its programming.
Disney+ originally launched in 2019 with a monthly subscription price of six dollars and ninety-nine cents. The service has since followed the industry trend of gradually raising its prices. The company’s last price hike was announced in October of last year.
