Depop announced the launch of a new styling and collaging tool called Outfits. This feature is designed for users who enjoy creating fashion collages. It provides a moodboard-like interface that allows users to design curated outfits to share with followers or to inspire their next look.
To use the feature, a user selects an item they want to style and clicks a scissors icon on the screen. This opens a range of customization options. Users can add colorful backgrounds and adjust the sizing and placement of images. The tool also offers templates to use as a layout guide.
Every item featured in the collages is shoppable. If a specific item sells out, the app will suggest similar alternatives. This gives sellers a new opportunity to highlight items for sale by presenting them in styled collages. This helps potential buyers see how clothing and accessories can be paired together.
Users can also share static images of their curated outfits on other social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram. This move appears to be a strategic effort by Depop to appeal to its Gen Z user base, as collages have become very popular among young users. For example, Pinterest introduced its own collage-making app called Shuffles in 2022 and later integrated that functionality into its main app.
The new Outfits feature is currently available to all users within the Depop app.
This announcement follows a report from Depop’s parent company, Etsy, on its second quarter 2025 earnings. The report revealed that Depop’s Gross Merchandise Sales increased by 34.7 percent year-over-year on a currency-neutral basis. This growth puts Depop on track for a one billion dollar sales run rate.
In comparison, rival platform Mercari reported a Gross Merchandise Value of 728 million dollars for the fourth quarter of 2024.
