Calm has launched a new standalone app dedicated to personalized sleep support. The new Calm Sleep app is available on iOS and is designed to help people wind down, sleep better, and wake up refreshed.
The app features Calm’s content alongside new tools to help users reach their sleep goals. It starts with a short onboarding questionnaire that creates a personalized sleep plan. This plan includes recommended content and daily tasks focused on improving areas like digital hygiene, exercise, stress reduction, and sleep environment.
A key feature is a “sleep readiness” bar that increases as users complete tasks throughout the day. This visual cue is designed to help users build better habits. The app also syncs with wearables through Apple HealthKit, allowing users to take action based on their sleep data.
At launch, Calm Sleep will feature new Sleep Stories from radio host Delilah and actor Andrew Scott. It also includes an existing library of over 300 hours of sleep content and 500 Sleep Stories. All new sleep content will have four weeks of exclusive availability on Calm Sleep before being released on the main Calm app.
Calm first entered the sleep content space ten years ago with the launch of Sleep Stories, which are audio bedtime stories for both children and adults. Since then, Sleep Stories have been played more than one billion times.
The company’s Chief Product Officer, Jon Tien, stated that Calm is a global leader in sleep, with more than half of its users already turning to the app for rest. He explained that Calm Sleep is a product built entirely around the sleep experience, from daytime habits to nighttime routines, designed to help people feel more empowered in their sleep journey.
The free version of Calm Sleep allows users to explore the personalized plan, daily tasks, and wearable integration. A Calm Sleep Premium subscription, which costs $69.99 per year, is required to unlock the app’s full content and experience. The company plans to launch an Android version in the future.
