Assort Health, a startup that uses AI to automate patient communication for specialty healthcare practices, has raised approximately $50 million in a Series B funding round. This investment values the company at $750 million, according to three sources familiar with the deal. The latest round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and comes just four months after the company raised its $22 million Series A.
The company’s AI voice agents are designed to manage high-volume, repetitive tasks such as scheduling appointments, processing cancellations, and answering frequently asked questions. These tasks are typically handled by front desk staff. By automating these processes, the technology allows human employees to dedicate their time to more complex and sensitive patient interactions.
Assort Health is part of a growing trend of startups securing funding to address patient phone call volume in medical offices. Recently, EliseAI, which automates customer service for real estate and healthcare front desks, announced it secured a $250 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz. That deal values EliseAI at $2.2 billion. Another company, Hello Patient, which provides an AI-powered assistant for medical offices, raised a $20 million Series A earlier this month at a $100 million valuation led by Scale Venture Partners.
The healthcare industry is increasingly adopting AI solutions, a movement evident in the growing use of medical scribes from companies like Abridge and Ambience Healthcare. Investors are now betting that patient communication will be the next major area for AI implementation.
Assort Health serves small and medium-sized specialty care offices that often experience long wait times. The company believes that fast responses from an AI agent can help these practices retain patients who might otherwise leave for a competitor.
Although Assort Health’s annual recurring revenue is currently just over $3 million, the company is reportedly growing very quickly. The startup initially focused on orthopedic and physical care offices but has recently expanded its offerings to other specialties, including Ob-Gyn, dermatology, and dentistry.
Assort Health was founded two years ago by Jon Wang, a former medical student who shifted his career to startups, and Jeff Liu, a former Facebook engineer. Lightspeed Venture Partners and Assort Health did not respond to a request for comment.
