Apple launched the iPhone 17 series today at its “awe-dropping” event, with the base model receiving a significant display upgrade. The new iPhone 17 features a larger 6.3-inch screen, a notable increase from the previous 6.1-inch size.
For the first time in the base model, the display includes ProMotion technology. This supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and uses LTPO, or Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide, to dynamically switch between different refresh rates for better power efficiency. The screen also achieves a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, dramatically improving visibility in bright outdoor conditions.
Powering these advancements is a new 3nm A19 processor, which includes a dedicated display engine to handle the upgraded screen. The camera system has also been enhanced with a new 48-megapixel ultrawide lens. This improved camera setup enables 2x optical telephoto zoom and delivers superior macro photography.
The front camera has been updated to a 24-megapixel square sensor. According to Apple, this innovative design allows users to capture selfies in various formats without having to change the phone’s orientation. The new front-facing camera also supports the Center Stage feature for video calls, keeping you perfectly framed.
The iPhone 17 will be available in a range of colors including lavender, mist blue, black, white, and sage.
