Apple has announced it will hold its iPhone 17 event on Tuesday, September 9, mirroring the timing of last year’s event. The company has begun sending out invitations for the gathering, which will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time and 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
While the company is anticipated to release one regular and two Pro phones, it may also replace the Plus model with a new, slim iPhone 17 Air. Reports indicate this new device could have a remarkably thin profile of 5.5 mm and feature a 6.6-inch screen. This design would make the iPhone 17 Air 0.08 inches thinner than the current generation models.
The base iPhone 17 is also expected to receive significant updates, including a larger 6.3-inch screen. A major improvement for this model would be the adoption of a 120Hz refresh rate, a notable upgrade from the 60Hz displays used in previous years.
Beyond the iPhones, Apple will likely introduce updates to the Apple Watch lineup, including the Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to be the most significant update of the trio, featuring a bigger screen and support for faster charging.
The company might also announce the AirPods Pro 3, marking the first update to the Pro line in three years. The new earbuds are rumored to have a more compact design and incorporate a new chip for improved noise cancellation and audio processing. They are also expected to feature touch-sensitive controls.
