According to a report, Anthropic has doubled the amount of venture capital funding it aims to raise. The company has increased its target from ten billion dollars to twenty billion dollars. This funding round is expected to close soon and would give Anthropic a valuation of three hundred and fifty billion dollars.
The company, which creates the popular AI assistant Claude and the coding tool Claude Code, decided to double its funding target due to booming investor interest. Backers in this round are expected to include Sequoia Capital, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and the investment management firm Coatue.
Late last year, it was reported that Anthropic hired lawyers as a step toward preparing for an initial public offering that could occur sometime this year. The company previously announced a thirteen billion dollar raise in September, which made it one of the industry’s most valuable private companies with a valuation of one hundred and eighty-three billion dollars.
