Anthropic has acquired the stealth biotech AI startup Coefficient Bio in a $400 million stock deal, according to reports. Sources have confirmed the acquisition closed, though the exact amount was not officially disclosed. This move continues Anthropic’s push into healthcare and life sciences, following its recent launch of Claude for Life Sciences, a tool for scientific researchers. Coefficient Bio was founded eight months ago by Samuel Stanton and Nathan C. Frey, both formerly of Genentech’s Prescient Design. The startup used AI to make drug discovery and biological research more efficient. Coefficient Bio’s team of around 10 people is expected to join Anthropic’s health and life science division.
