Anthropic bundles Claude Code into enterprise plans

Anthropic announced a new subscription offering on Wednesday that will incorporate Claude Code into Claude for Enterprise. Previously available only through individual accounts, Anthropic’s command-line coding tool can now be purchased as part of a broader enterprise suite. This allows for more sophisticated integrations and more powerful admin tools.

Anthropic product lead Scott White told TechCrunch that this was the most requested feature from their business team and enterprise customers. The integration positions Anthropic to better compete with command-line tools from Google and GitHub, both of which included enterprise integrations at their launch.

Launched in June, Claude Code has quickly become one of the most popular command-line programming tools. It offers a more agentic approach than traditional IDE-based tools. That popularity has come with some growing pains, as individual users of the service have struggled with unexpected usage limits. The new enterprise offering is partially a response to these issues, allowing businesses to set granular spending controls that can be scaled up for intense usage.

Anthropic is particularly bullish about integrations between Claude Code and the Claude.ai chatbot, which will be easier to automate in an enterprise context. Using Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol, businesses can develop Claude Code prompts in conjunction with the Claude chatbot, or integrate the command-line tool more deeply into internal data sources.

In his work on Claude.ai, White said enterprise integrations involving customer feedback tools were particularly transformative. He described using Claude to summarize large quantities of feedback from different sources and translate everything into concrete product changes. White said there is something magical about blending customer feedback and helping to think about solutions that address their unique challenges. He noted that as a product manager, this was simply not possible for him even a year ago.
