Amazon’s eero has announced a new device called the eero Signal 4G LTE, priced at $99.99. This product acts as an instant backup for your home internet connection during an outage, provided you have an eero subscription.
To use it, customers plug the eero Signal into any compatible USB-C powered eero device that supports Wi-Fi 6 or higher. The device automatically switches to a cellular connection when your primary internet goes down. It then returns to standby mode once your regular service is restored.
This backup solution is designed for work-from-home employees, people who need security systems to remain online, or those living in areas prone to internet outages.
Since the cellular network is only used during interruptions, the subscription costs less than typical 4G LTE plans. At launch, users can select a $99.99 annual eero Plus subscription with 10 GB of backup data or a $199.99 eero Plus 100 plan with 100 GB of data. Both plans offer discounted pricing when you first purchase the device.
Later this year, the company plans to launch a 5G version of the eero Signal for $199.99. Support for the device will also be extended to customers on eero Business plans.
