Amazon reportedly plans to cut around 30,000 corporate jobs

Amazon may be preparing for its largest round of job cuts since 2023. According to a report from Reuters on Monday, sources indicate that up to 30,000 corporate positions could be eliminated beginning Tuesday. The reductions are expected to impact multiple sectors, including human resources, devices and services, and operations.

This would be the most significant workforce reduction at the company since a separate round of 27,000 layoffs that started in late 2022.

In more recent times, Amazon has conducted smaller job cuts across various divisions. For example, in January, the company reduced a small number of roles within its Communications and Sustainability departments.

This news follows a prior CNBC report that discussed a memo from Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. The memo stated that as Amazon continues to implement more artificial intelligence agents, fewer corporate jobs will be required in the future. Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the new reports.
